Time to Celebrate from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Continuing with a wildly, busy October, DH and I flew out last week on MondayTo celebrate these two getting married! They wanted a very low-key courthouse ceremony, choosing to save their $. Our girl couldn't be there because she's expecting in a few weeks, but DH and I made a fast trip. Since, we still don't have any help on the ranch, and we're fixing to start our Fall Works, DH had to come

Temporarily Relinquished my Hermit Status from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

So much busy-ness! I have been on the go a lot lately. This kind of a schedule is probably normal for many of you and it's all been a really good kind of busy, but WHEW, I am pooped! I am just going to catalog a quick daily update here because living out on a ranch, I often get questions like 'What do you DO all day?' or "Don't you get bored?". The answer to that last question...NEVER. Other

Weekend Happenings from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

There was a ranch rodeo and bronc riding this weekend and the folks who organized it asked DH to be a judge. He declined, but said he would if they couldn't find anyone else. Well, of course they aren't even going to look for anyone else. LOL. No one ever wants to be the judge. It's a thankless job - you can't ever please everyone and folks will always be upset about a call you made. Another

Celebrating 85 from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

My FIL turned 85 in August and that's something to celebrate so we all gathered together. We're spread across 4 states, and not everyone could make it, but this is us - minus 4. I love this tribe! They had a full house - 14 overnight Friday and Saturday night. Everyone brought food. We grilled burgers and I took Asian Salad, Queso  and chips- plus 40 Buckaroo Bundles. There is never a shortage of

What We've Been Up To from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Yes, all is well and we're still here - just filling our days with family and friends and celebrations that keep me away from the computer and that leads to me dropping the ball when it comes to posting. I'll break things up a bit into a few posts in order to keep from writing the never-ending post. We're homebodies and quickly reaching hermit status as we age, but lately we've been spending a

Back to Texas from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Last Thursday we loaded up and headed back to Texas. Our dear friend, Bob passed away unexpectedly the Friday after Thanksgiving. He and his wife, Sue, are so special to us. I posted about them here, when I recently gave them a quilt. Bob & SueHe will be missed greatly. Bob's celebration of life was this past Thursday so we left the house at 3 a.m. in order to be there for the service. Our girl

Away From the Dirt Road...Again from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

I've been away from the ranch again. I scheduled my last post and headed out for Texas the next morning - Tuesday. My parents' estate sale was slated to begin on Wednesday and go through Saturday. I stayed with the neighbors - they've visited us multiple times and Daddy called them 'the kids' as they are a little bit younger than my parents and they truly have become family. One evening we

Good for the Soul from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

This dear gal is exactly that: And we don't get to see each other nearly enough. We live almost 4 hours from each other and it's been entirely too long since we last got together. It is just silly to let 3 years go by without seeing someone whom I cherish so much. Our attempts to meet up have  not worked out, but when she texted me the other day and asked me what I was doing Wednesday, I

Road Trip from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

It was good to spend a few days with our girl. Our morning beverages were served in style - so cute and thoughtful! The company she works for has farm and ranch country and their employees have access to their properties so we drove up so DH could accompany her on her first deer hunt: Deer were located, but 'the one' was never seen. She still had a week, but we had to come back. I'm so

Quilt Shop Stop Ahead from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Our girl's been in Oklahoma for 18 months and although I've been there a couple of times, her Daddy never has. She makes the trip home quite a bit (we'll take her and our boy anytime we can get them) and it hasn't been long since her last visit. This last weekend we remedied that with a little  road trip that allowed us time to catch up on podcasts: On a 7 hour trip, we pass through 2 decent
